A citizen of Kazakhstan, who was on the international wanted list in connection with a case of group robbery, has been extradited from Russia. According to the investigation, he had been hiding from law enforcement for about 20 years after committing the crime.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CASE

According to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the suspect was extradited from the Russian Federation (RF) to face criminal charges in a case of group robbery.

According to the investigation, in 2006 in Pavlodar, the man, together with other individuals, committed a robbery using an object used as a weapon and stole the victim's property.

WHY THE SUSPECT WAS WANTED FOR MANY YEARS

As reported by the General Prosecutor's Office, the other participants in the crime had previously been sentenced to various terms of punishment. However, the person involved in the case fled from the criminal prosecution authorities after committing the crime.

Consequently, he was placed on the international wanted list.

WHERE THE SUSPECT WAS DETAINED

In September 2025, the man was detained in the Novosibirsk Region. Following this, an extradition procedure was organised at the request of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan.

The suspect was brought to Kazakhstan for further procedural actions.

WHAT IS THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE PERSON INVOLVED

At present, the suspect has been placed in a pre-trial detention centre. His guilt has not been established by a court sentence that has entered into legal force.

For the crime with which he is charged, the legislation provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years with confiscation of property.
