Pensioners in the Saryarka district received practical knowledge on how to protect themselves from financial pyramids and internet fraudsters — a category of citizens who more often than others fall victim to economic crimes.

WHAT THE MEETING PARTICIPANTS WERE TAUGHT
Employees of the Department of Economic Investigations (DEI) together with the apparatus of the akim of the Saryarka district held an informational and explanatory meeting with members of the district Council of Veterans. The event took place as part of implementing the Head of State's instructions to ensure the principle of «Law and Order».
DEI representatives explained the signs by which financial pyramids can be identified and how to avoid falling victim to investment projects promising excessive returns. The basics of digital hygiene were also discussed separately: how to protect bank accounts from phone and internet scammers. Participants also learned which authorities to contact if they receive a suspicious financial offer.

PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VETERANS
The meeting was held in an open dialogue format: veterans asked questions directly to DEI employees and representatives of the district akimat. As a result, participants received practical recommendations on safe methods of storing savings and rules for using payment cards.
WHY PENSIONERS REMAIN AT RISK
As noted by the department, the older generation remains one of the most vulnerable categories of citizens to economic crimes, therefore preventive work in this area continues on a systematic basis.
«Observance of legality and law and order begins with the awareness of every citizen. Our task is to equip veterans with knowledge that will help them preserve their funds and peace of mind,» — noted in the Department of Economic Investigations.
