The state prosecutor has requested a life sentence for Sultan Sarsemaliyev in the case of the murder of four people in the village of Zhangeldin, Atyrau Region. The prosecutor's office has also discontinued the criminal investigation into Akbayan Mukangaliyeva due to the absence of a criminal offence.
WHAT DEMANDS THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCED
During the court pleadings, the state prosecutor asked the court to find Sultan Sarsemaliyev guilty of the charges brought against him and to sentence him to life imprisonment, to be served in a maximum (high) security facility.
Prosecutor Miras Bauyrzhanov stated that all the evidence presented had been examined during the trial. He also noted that the defendant was a close relative of the deceased.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CASE OF AKBAYAN MUKANGALIYEVA
The prosecutor's office of the Atyrau Region has discontinued the criminal investigation into Akbayan Mukangaliyeva, who had previously been suspected under Article 434 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Failure to Report a Crime").
The criminal case has been closed due to the absence of a criminal offence. The investigation was unable to prove her guilt.
After the death of her relatives, Akbayan Mukangaliyeva was in Indonesia, where, it is reported, she was taken by her ex-husband. After returning to Kazakhstan, she underwent forensic psychiatric examinations in Atyrau and Almaty.
WHAT THE DEFENDANT STATED
During the court hearing, Sultan Sarsemaliyev stated that he regretted violating the laws of the state and of God, and also said he was ready to face punishment, reports "Kursiv".
At the same time, during the pleadings, the defendant again stated that he does not plead guilty to the premeditated murder of Nauryz Mukangaliyev. According to him, the latter died during a conflict when he claims he was acting in self-defence.

After the conclusion of the court pleadings, the defendant is to make his final statement. The court will then retire to the deliberation room to deliver the verdict.
