Employees of the Astana Police Department (PD) stopped an illegal street race, the participants of which were creating a hazardous situation on the road. Among them was a minor driving a car.
WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE RECORDED
According to the Astana PD, the incident occurred on Salyk Zimanov Street. The participants included an 18-year-old driver of a Skoda car, as well as two drivers of a Toyota Highlander — one of them a minor, the other a 33-year-old man.
Police established that the drivers committed serious traffic violations and created a hazardous situation.
LIABILITY OF THE OFFENDERS
Administrative protocols have been drawn up against all those involved.
The legal representative of the minor has been separately held accountable. Their actions have been classified as:
- entrusting a vehicle to a person without a driving licence;
- improper fulfilment of parenting duties;
- the teenager being away from home without supervision.
All vehicles belonging to the offenders have been impounded at the municipal car pound.
STATISTICS OF VIOLATIONS IN THE CITY
Since the start of the year, around 1,800 drivers in Astana have been penalised for creating hazardous situations. Nearly 3,000 drivers have been penalised for violating manoeuvring rules.
To recall, a fatal accident recently occurred in Almaty on Al-Farabi Avenue, resulting in the deaths of three people.
Online, a theory about a possible connection between the incident and illegal street racing has also been discussed, but this remains unconfirmed.
