Residents of the North Kazakhstan Region (NKR) came to fish on the Ishim in the suburbs of Petropavlovsk, but ended up in an area where shooting was taking place. No one was injured.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN", according to the woman, she and her husband had come to fish on the Ishim. At first the shots were heard in the distance, but soon, as the resident claims, bullets began whistling over them and cutting off branches from the bushes.
The woman said she barely managed to drop to the ground and warn her husband. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.
After what happened, the anglers questioned why the dangerous area had not been cordoned off and whether there were enough warning signs, if people could get in there.
WHAT THE POLICE RESPONDED
As reported by the police department (PD), an active military training ground is located in this area. Special signs have been installed at the entrance warning that entry to the territory is prohibited.
According to the head of the NKR PD, Ruslan Nazarov, shooting at the training ground is carried out by servicemen, border guards, cadets of the National Guard Academy, and sometimes police officers.

Later, the woman admitted that she and her husband had indeed noticed the prohibition signs, but had not paid attention to them. According to her, they "always went there" and considered this place a favourite spot for fishing.
WHAT THE INVESTIGATION WILL ESTABLISH
Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting an investigation. They will have to establish which unit was carrying out the shooting that day, as well as clarify the circumstances of how civilians appeared on the territory of the dangerous zone of the training ground.
