A large fire broke out near a three-storey administrative building on Al-Farabi Avenue in Kostanay. The flames spread to the building's cladding and roof, an office on the third floor, and nearby parked cars.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE FIRE
According to the Department for Emergency Situations (DES) of the Kostanay Region, the fire broke out on Al-Farabi Avenue near the three-storey administrative building.
According to preliminary information, the fire started near the building, after which it spread to its cladding, an office on the third floor, and the roof. Two cars parked nearby were also engulfed in flames.
Eyewitnesses also reported several burnt-out cars and the fire spreading to the business centre building.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT CASUALTIES
During firefighting operations, staff from the Ministry for Emergency Situations (MES) rescued a woman who was on the second floor of the building.
She was brought out using a rescue hood and handed over to the team from the MES Disaster Medicine Centre.
According to preliminary information from the Health Department, no one has sought medical assistance.
HOW MANY RESOURCES ARE INVOLVED
An operational firefighting headquarters has been set up at the scene. DES forces and resources are working at an elevated response level of call №2.
In total, 25 personnel and six pieces of equipment have been deployed to fight the fire. Rescuers from the Operational Rescue Unit (ORU), staff from the Disaster Medicine Centre, police, ambulance services, and municipal services are also working at the scene.
At the time of publication, the fire had not yet been contained.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTED ON THE AVENUE
Due to the fire, traffic was blocked on Al-Farabi Avenue from Chekhov Street towards Mailin Street. Police have restricted movement in the area of the incident.
The exact source of the fire has not been officially established. The services promised to provide further information once the circumstances and the area of the fire had been clarified.
