Supplies of Kazakh oil along the Atyrau — Samara route have been temporarily suspended after drone attacks on oil transport infrastructure in Russia. Relevant services are checking the technical condition of the facilities.
WHEN OIL TRANSPORTATION WAS HALTED
According to the Ministry of Energy, drones attacked facilities of the Samara production and dispatch hub on the night of 2 November. After that, at 06:09 Astana time, transportation of oil along the Atyrau — Samara main oil pipeline was temporarily stopped.
Ministry official spokesperson Assel Serikpayeva said that relevant services are assessing the technical condition of the infrastructure. According to her, oil receipt in this direction is expected to resume in the near future. Exact restoration timelines were not given.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE ATTACK
Monitoring resources reported a possible fire on the territory of the Samara line production and dispatch station.
Governor of Samara Oblast Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said that 46 drones were destroyed over the region on the night of 2 November. He did not specify what damage the oil facilities sustained.
Oil infrastructure in the Samara area had already become a target of drone attacks in October 2026. Reports of incidents at the station appeared on 2, 7, 10 and 11 October.
WHY THE HALT MATTERS FOR KAZAKHSTAN
The Samara line production and dispatch station is part of the main oil pipeline system of the Russian company Transneft. It is a major transport hub through which oil flows from several regions of Russia and Kazakhstan pass.
The Atyrau — Samara route links west Kazakhstan fields with the Russian oil pipeline system. Through it, Kazakh raw material is sent on for further transportation, including in the European direction.
