On 2 July, a cable caught fire on the section between the «Sığanaq» and «Bäyterek» stations in Astana. Due to the incident, LRT train services were temporarily suspended; after the fire was extinguished and the infrastructure was inspected, services were fully restored.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to City Transportation Systems (CTS), the cable fire occurred on the section between the «Sığanaq» and «Bäyterek» stations. To ensure passenger safety, train services were temporarily stopped.
After the fire was put out, specialists inspected the infrastructure and confirmed it was safe to operate. Train services then resumed in full. The system is operating normally.
WHAT THE EMERGENCY MINISTRY SAID
As reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), after the power supply was cut off, rescue workers extinguished the fire covering an area of 1 linear metre using a Vario Carbon backpack fire extinguisher.
WERE THERE ANY CASUALTIES
According to CTS, there were no casualties as a result of the incident. After inspecting the infrastructure, train services were fully restored.
