On 14 August, there was a mass power outage in Almaty and the Almaty Region. In Almaty, consumers in four districts of the city were left without electricity, and in the region, ten districts were affected. The volume of disconnected load amounted to 300 MW.
CAUSE OF THE EMERGENCY OUTAGE
According to Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy JSC (AZhK), the outage occurred at 14:38 following the emergency disconnection of overhead power transmission lines with a voltage of 500 kV L-5400, L-5300, and L-5320, owned by KEGOC JSC.
After the fault in the AZhK networks, emergency automation was triggered. It disconnected part of the consumers to protect the power system. As a result, the disconnected load amounted to 300 MW.
WHICH DISTRICTS WERE LEFT WITHOUT POWER
In Almaty, power supply disruptions affected the Bostandyk, Nauryzbai, Auezov, and Alatau districts.
In the Almaty Region, outages occurred in the Zhambyl, Balkhash, Esik, Karasai, Shelek, Raiymbek, Uygur, Ili, Kegen, and Talgar districts.
Specialists from AZhK are carrying out measures to restore power supply to consumers.
WHERE ELSE WERE OUTAGES RECORDED
Reports of power disruptions on 14 August also came from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. In Bishkek, the first reports of power cuts appeared around 15:00. According to Kaktus.media, disruptions were recorded in various districts of the city.
In Tajikistan, outages occurred in various regions of the country, including Dushanbe. The first reports came in at approximately 15:00.
