A ceremony to raise the National Flag was held in Atyrau - residents and officials gathered on the Square of State Symbols to celebrate the holiday symbolising the attributes of an independent Kazakhstan.

WHO GATHERED ON THE SQUARE
4 June a ceremonial event took place on the Square of State Symbols in Atyrau to mark the Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The ceremony was attended by the akim of Atyrau Region Serik Shapkenov, deputies, representatives of state and law enforcement bodies, veterans, young people and residents of the city. Participants sang the National Anthem together and watched the raising of the National Flag.
WHAT THE AKIM SAID
Serik Shapkenov addressed those gathered with a welcoming speech, emphasising the role of state symbols in strengthening patriotism and national unity. The akim referred to the position of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who, he said, had repeatedly pointed out the unifying role of state symbols as the country moves towards common goals.
“Respect for state symbols begins with respect for one's country. If every citizen - from the youngest to the older generation - treats our symbols with care, it will be a manifestation of true love for the Fatherland. I wish for our Flag to always fly proudly, the Anthem to inspire new generations, and the independence of Kazakhstan to remain strong and unshakeable,” Shapkenov said.

HOW THE EVENT ENDED
The festive programme concluded with a concert featuring creative groups from Atyrau Region.
