In Almaty, four suspects have been detained in a criminal case concerning the murder of a 61-year-old man. Police are also investigating their possible involvement in the unlawful seizure of the deceased's flat.

WHAT IS KNOWN

The story came to light after residents of one of Almaty's blocks of flats noticed the disappearance of their neighbour. According to information published on social media, CCTV footage helped reconstruct the events that took place on 30 September.

The footage shows two men entering the stairwell several times. According to neighbours, they were collecting or leaving keys in the letterbox. Later, one of the men carried a person out of the stairwell unconscious, with their head covered by a bag.

WHEN THE SALE OF THE FLAT BECAME KNOWN

The next event that raised questions among residents occurred on 10 October. According to neighbours, it became known on that day that the missing man's flat had been sold.

Neighbours suggested that the man's disappearance and the property transaction could be connected. The posts also put forward theories about the possible activities of so-called black estate agents, who, according to residents' assumptions, may have targeted lonely elderly people in order to take possession of their property.

WHAT THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS REPORTED

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), during the investigation law enforcement officers established the circumstances of the crime, the identities of the suspects and their possible involvement in the unlawful seizure of the deceased's flat.

Four suspects were detained as part of the criminal case and placed in a temporary detention facility (IVS).

The progress of the investigation is under the special supervision of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
