In the Ulken Naryn district of the East Kazakhstan region, two utility workers died during emergency restoration work.
As reported on his Instagram page by the region's mayor, Nurymbet Saktaganov, the tragedy occurred as a result of a ground collapse.
"On behalf of the mayor's office and personally, I express my deep condolences to the family and friends of Yerzhan Aitpayev and Sergey Kasterin. This is a heavy and irreparable loss," wrote the mayor.
He noted that the families of the deceased will receive moral and financial support.
"Now it is especially important to develop a systematic and responsible approach to issues of labour protection and prevention of accidents at work," Saktaganov emphasised.
The head of the region instructed the relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation into what happened and to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy.
