The military court of the Almaty garrison heard a criminal case against a sergeant accused of fraud.
According to the press service of the department, the serviceman fraudulently obtained 500 thousand tenge from the victim by promising him the position of squad commander in a military unit.
"Unaware of his criminal intentions, 'T' handed over 500 thousand tenge to 'E' as a reward. In reality, Sergeant 'E' did not have such authority or capabilities", the verdict states.
The defendant pleaded guilty and expressed remorse for his actions. He compensated for the damage caused and reconciled with the victim, and therefore asked for the case to be closed and for him to be released from criminal liability.
The victim also stated that he had no claims against the defendant and asked for the criminal case to be closed due to reconciliation.
After hearing the opinions of both parties, the court ruled to release the sergeant from criminal liability and close the case.
It will be recalled that in October last year, in the Mangystau region, a senior sergeant of the fire support company of the 1st assault battalion of military unit 25744 was in the dock. He was accused of assaulting three conscript privates.
The case was heard under the charge of "abuse of authority". The accused admitted his guilt, but managed to avoid punishment. The servicemen he had beaten stated that they had no complaints against him and asked for the sergeant to be released from criminal liability due to reconciliation between the parties.
