The responsibility for the death of the herders in WKO has been preliminarily placed on the employer

A criminal case has been opened in the West Kazakhstan Region over the deaths of two herders who went missing during a blizzard in the Zhanibek District. Following an investigation, the materials have been handed over to the police.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to MIA "Kazinform", two herders went missing in the Zhanibek District during a severe blizzard on 13 December last year. Their bodies were later found near the village of Zhaskayrat in the Kuigenkol rural district.

INVESTIGATION RESULTS

The Department of Labour Inspection of the West Kazakhstan Region set up a special commission. The employer, the head of the farm, and a trade union representative took part in the investigation.

The probe revealed violations, with full responsibility for the incident placed on the employer. The materials have been sent to the police department of the West Kazakhstan Region.

WHAT NEXT

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the police in the Zhanibek District.

CONTEXT

On 13–14 December, it was also reported that other residents had died during the blizzard in various districts of the region.
