Residents of the town of Kosshy continue to face frequent power outages. According to the Department of Energy, Housing and Public Utilities of the Akmola Region, the problem is due to the fact that when the town's electrical grid was commissioned, it was neither transferred to state ownership nor to the guaranteeing supplier — AREC (Akmola Regional Electricity Distribution Company).
As reported by Kazinform News Agency, the head of the department, Baktybek Zhapayev, explained that the networks remained on the balance sheet of the housing and public utilities department and require restoration.
The town's akimat is currently carrying out work to bring them into compliance with requirements, after which it is planned to transfer them to the trust management of AREC without the right of purchase.
It is noted that to provide power for the multi-storey development of the Lesnaya Polyana microdistrict, 666 million tenge has been allocated, which will be used to organise a permanent electricity supply.
The issue of winter preparation is also causing concern among residents. According to the akimat, there are 15 autonomous boiler houses operating in Kosshy — all of which are ready for the heating season. In addition, four municipal boiler houses, supplied with coal reserves, are fully prepared.
Thus, regional authorities declare that Kosshy is fully ready for the heating season, but the issue of power outages will only be resolved after the restored networks are transferred to AREC's management.
Recall that earlier, the editorial board of the FBRC wrote about the largest public procurements in the Akmola Region in 2024. Among the most expensive contracts were: football investments amounting to 1.35 billion tenge, electricity supply for social facilities totalling more than 1 billion tenge, and sanitary-epidemiological services worth 938.3 million tenge.
