At an expanded government meeting, the Head of State instructed that the accuracy of data on the number of users of the Kazakh messaging app AITU be verified. The instruction came after the relevant minister reported on the service’s audience figures.
WHAT DATA THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCED
The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence, Zhaslan Madiev, reported that the app is used by ‘more than 700,000 people’, clarifying that this is ‘nearly a million’.
This information was presented in response to a question from Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the number of users of the domestic service.
After the report, the President instructed that the figures be verified for accuracy.
WHAT APP STORE STATISTICS SHOW
The developer Almas Kassymzhanov decided to independently examine the open data on app downloads.
According to him:
- App Store — around 10,000 downloads per month, with only 85 new ratings;
- Google Play — fewer than 5,000 downloads per month, 739 ratings, of which approximately 71% are negative.
The figures cited are based on information displayed in the app stores. The total number of installations over the entire lifespan of the service and the number of active users are not specified in this data.
