The Police Department of the Karaganda Region reported the results of an internal investigation into the death of a young woman, whose body was found at a police sub-station of the Mikhailovsky Police Department.

According to media reports, following a meeting of the disciplinary committee, the head and deputy head of the department were relieved of their posts. Additionally, a number of senior officers from the Karaganda City Police Department and the Regional Police Department faced strict disciplinary action.

The department noted that a pre-trial investigation is underway regarding the discovery of the body, during which all circumstances of the incident are being established.

The local police inspector, in whose office the body was found, has been suspended from duty for the duration of the investigation — he is currently in a medical facility. The question of his possible dismissal will be considered after his treatment is completed.

"The Police Department emphasises that it will continue to respond firmly to any violations of official discipline, internal regulations, and ethical standards — regardless of rank or position," the statement reads.

It will be recalled that at the beginning of October, the body of a deceased young woman and an unconscious police officer were discovered at a local police sub-station in the Mikhailovka neighbourhood of Karaganda. The local police inspector, a police major, was taken to intensive care in a state of coma. A criminal case was opened into the incident.
