Pharmaceutical production worth 39.5 billion tenge is being expanded in Shymkent

A new phase of the Polpharma Santo project has begun in Shymkent, which involves expanding pharmaceutical production and investments amounting to 39.5 billion tenge. The project provides for the creation of 300 jobs and the production of 38 types of domestically produced medicines, including drugs for the treatment of oncological, cardiovascular, and infectious diseases.

EXPANSION OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTION UNDER STATE DIRECTIVES

In accordance with the directives of the Head of State to increase the share of Kazakhstani production in the pharmaceutical industry, the government has approved an Investment Agreement between the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC "Khimpharm". The project aims to provide the population with affordable medicines and increase the share of domestically produced medications.

The corresponding resolution has been signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

PROJECT PARAMETERS

The total volume of private investment in the project amounts to 39.5 billion tenge, including funds for the development of scientific research. The creation of 300 new jobs is planned. The launch of the first phase of new production is expected by the end of 2029.

The new facilities will make it possible to produce 38 types of medicines, covering the treatment of the most common diseases — oncological, cardiovascular, infectious, and chronic, including tuberculosis. The production will comply with international quality standards.

INVESTMENT FUND OF THE INDUSTRY

In the pharmaceutical production sector, 6 investment agreements have been concluded for a total amount of 316.3 billion tenge. According to the government, this reflects the policy aimed at developing local production.
