Media outlets report a criminal case against the head of a district court in the Kyzylorda region.

The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan has officially confirmed the existence of a criminal case against the chairman of the Kazaly District Court of the Kyzylorda region, Daulet Abdykalykov. Earlier, information regarding his detention and possible corruption episodes appeared in the public domain, citing a journalistic investigation.

WHAT THE NSC CONFIRMED

In a response to an official request from the KazTAG International News Agency the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NSC) stated that a pre-trial investigation is being conducted against the chairman of the district court. The department did not clarify other details — the article of the criminal code, the procedural status of the subject, and the possible sums involved.

WHAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED

The possible detention of the judge was previously reported by journalist Mikhail Kozachkov. According to his information, Daulet Abdykalykov was detained by officers of the NSC department for the Kyzylorda region and is suspected of a corruption crime.

According to published data, the accusations against the judge were brought by a man convicted of fraud in 2024. The materials claim that relatives of the convicted man may have given the judge 6 million tenge to secure a lighter sentence, after which he received a suspended sentence. Later, according to the same data, a further 300,000 tenge was mentioned for early release from serving the sentence.

There is currently no official confirmation of these episodes from law enforcement agencies.

ARE THERE OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED

The publication also mentioned that the investigation may have questions for the judge of the Kazaly District Court, Serik Bertai. According to available information, he is in a medical facility and was not detained at the time of publication. The NSC has not officially commented on this information.

WHAT IS KNOWN AT THIS STAGE

At present, only the fact of a pre-trial investigation has been confirmed. The procedural status of the parties involved, the classification of the possible offence, and the further steps of the investigation have not been disclosed.
