Residents of the village of Maraldy and employees of the local gold mining plant have reconciled during a court hearing.
According to zakon.kz, the court was examining a case regarding an attack on company employees.
"This court case is clear evidence that the information being spread on social media is false. We know that this is a planned, targeted campaign against the company. It cannot be said that these were pensioners and women, as the court viewed videos of people in masks who rammed through the factory employees. It is a great pity that it is not the organisers and instigators of this campaign who are in the dock, but ordinary people.", commented a representative of the victims.
It has become known that initially the victims assessed the material and moral damage at 6 million tenge. However, after the final hearing, representatives of the plant withdrew all claims and asked the court to drop the criminal prosecution due to the reconciliation of the parties.
It is reported that the court granted the motion and released the defendants from the courtroom.
Recall that it was previously reported that in the village of Maraldy, local residents were actively protesting against the construction of the plant and the operation of the gold ore quarry.
Despite the obvious prospects for the population, the villagers were categorically opposed to new industrial facilities appearing in their settlement. At the time, the editorial board of FBRK suggested that people may have been manipulated by those pursuing personal interests.
In our publications about the events in Maraldy, we allowed that the residents of the settlement had been turned against the forthcoming construction. Even at the initial hearings, there were instances of incitement of the population by some so-called capital city activists, and one of the speakers at the hearings even demanded that everyone be given 20 million tenge for the construction. We published a detailed analysis of who is calling on villagers to engage in mass unrest in Maraldy.
Last July, the gold mining company "VSAM Production", conducting exploration in the village of Maraldy in the Kurchum district of the East Kazakhstan Region, reported an attack by villagers on its employees.
It was reported that the situation at the site had become critical. About 100-150 people broke through the security post, beat the guards, pelted the equipment with stones, and smashed windows.
