Russian CJSC "Sirena-Travel", after the hack of which the personal data of Kazakhstanis ended up in the public domain, is operating in Kazakhstan without official registration.

According to the Telegram channel "Access to the Sea", at the beginning of this week, funds were received into the budget from the so-called "Google tax" - a levy on foreign internet companies providing services to Kazakh users.

The list of 101 legal entities includes companies such as Google, Meta, TikTok, AliExpress, Apple and Netflix. However, it does not include CJSC "Sirena-Travel" - the Russian flight booking system that processes data on domestic flights of Kazakh citizens. It is noted that the company is not registered in the country at all.

For context, in December last year, the personal data of Kazakhstanis ended up in the public domain after the hack of "Sirena-Travel".

Data on domestic flights of Kazakhstanis from 2007 to 2023 leaked online, containing information on nearly 700,000 flights on aircraft of airlines Air Astana, Scat, Qazaq Air and Bek Air within the country.

The database also includes information on international flights of Kazakh citizens on Russian airline aircraft. The leaked files contain passenger data, their document numbers, phone numbers and email addresses.‍
