The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has reduced the purchase price of food items from the SSPFT (socially significant food products) basket in the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR).
According to the agency's press service, the State Municipal Institution «Centre for Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs» of the EKR Education Department had been purchasing SSPFT at inflated prices from individual entrepreneurs.
It is reported that last year the Centre purchased cabbage at 380 tenge per kg, and carrots at 325 tenge.
«The authorised body issued a directive to the individual entrepreneur to eliminate the identified violations of the legislation 'On Regulation of Trade Activities', with the imposition of a penalty in the form of a warning», the statement reads.
As a result of the measures taken by the agency, since the beginning of this year the state institution has signed new contracts with vegetable suppliers.
Consequently, the purchase price for carrots decreased by 35% (from 325 to 242 tenge), and for cabbage (from 380 to 238 tenge) by 60%.
Recall that earlier the FMA in the Karaganda region identified over-markups on eggs and reduced potato prices. In addition, the agency identified inflated prices for sugar in Zhezkazgan, for rice in the Kyzylorda region, and for kefir in the Abai region.
