Fraudsters posing as ministers ask citizens for money

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

Scammers are sending messages to Kazakhstan citizens, pretending to be ministers, asking to borrow money until payday. According to the Telegram channel “KAZAKH_INFORMЕ”, some citizens are even receiving messages in the name of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

“The thing is, I need to transfer 500 thousand tenge, but the card limits won’t allow it. Could you lend me the amount? And when the limits are restored, I’ll return it to you or give it in cash, whichever is more convenient. I would be very grateful!” - the scammers write.

It is reported that fraudsters are attacking Kazakhstan citizens with their messages so frequently that the government press service had to address the public.

“This is a fake. The information is being distributed by internet scammers. Please do not trust this false distribution, do not transfer funds, and do not click on suspicious links,” said the press service.
