In Ust-Kamenogorsk, a fraudster has been convicted who, while serving a prison sentence, called local businesspeople and pretended to be the deputy governor of the region. Under the pretext of offering further concessions to one entrepreneur, he asked for financial assistance to deal with flooding.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the convict managed to obtain 50 million tenge.
"Having gained access to a mobile phone, the convict called major businesspeople in the region, pretending to be the deputy governor of the region, in order to seek help in eliminating the consequences of the floods," the statement said.
As a result, by combining a previously imposed sentence, the defendant was given 8 years in prison.
