The mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, has stated that the contract with Aliya Nazarbayeva's company "Clean City NC" expires this year. Other entities will now be responsible for waste collection in the capital.
As reported by the Telegram channel "Astanovka98", the contract with "Clean City NC" was signed approximately 5-6 years ago.
"From this year, we plan to announce a competition in the first days of April. We are dividing the city into five districts. The city has doubled in size, and the number of residents has increased accordingly. Approximately 1.5 thousand tonnes of solid household waste will be collected daily within the year," said the mayor.
According to Zhenis Kassymbek, one company's capacity is no longer sufficient to remove all the city's waste. Instead of the current 80 vehicles, at least 150-160 vehicles are now required.
At the same time, it is worth noting that the former president's daughter has withdrawn from the list of founders of the waste collection company in Astana.
