Information is circulating online about the detention of former judge of the Medeu District Court of Almaty, Svetlana Zholmanova. It is reported that she is suspected of committing fraud against several victims.
According to Zakon.kz, this data was confirmed by the press service of the city police department, noting that the department has opened a criminal case. The statement says investigative actions are being carried out.
It was reported that Svetlana Zholmanova was suspected of fraud back in April 2021. At that time, during a search of her office, $10,000 was seized from her.
She was suspected "of committing fraudulent actions related to providing assistance to interested parties in securing court decisions in their favour".
Later, by order of the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Svetlana Zholmanova's powers were suspended. In 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed her.
It is worth noting that two years ago, journalist Mikhail Kozachkov published a video in which the former judge Svetlana Zholmanova is allegedly seen discussing the details of a bribe with a certain woman.
