Depositors of the financial pyramid "Boxy Wealth" lost 230 million tenge

In Almaty, employees of the Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) shut down the activities of the financial pyramid scheme «Boxy Wealth».

According to the agency's press office, the organisers posed as an investment company and offered citizens earnings of 5% to 10% per day under the guise of watching advertising materials. The monthly return was supposedly as high as 150%, and the annual return over 1800%.

Furthermore, a referral system was in place: for bringing in new participants, they promised 10% of their investments. Money was accepted on bank cards registered to front individuals, after which it was transferred to cryptocurrency wallets.

More than 180 people have been recognised as victims, with damages amounting to 230 million tenge. The organiser of the scheme has been arrested for two months, and the investigation is ongoing.
