The Prosecutor General's Office extradited a convicted drug trafficker, a citizen of Kazakhstan, from Russia to serve a court sentence.
According to the press service of the department, in 2014 he was part of a group that sold narcotics in particularly large quantities on the territory of Pavlodar.
Police detained the suspect while he was transporting 66 kg of cannabis and 8 kg of hashish for further sale. Despite this, he was acquitted by a court sentence in 2015.
However, following a prosecutor's appeal, the acquittal was overturned and he was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison.
To evade justice, the man left the country and was placed on an international wanted list. It is noted that he had been hiding from the authorities for over 6 years.
In December last year, the wanted man was detained in the Moscow Region and, at the request of the Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office, was extradited to his homeland. He is now in a pre-trial detention centre to serve his sentence.
It should be recalled that earlier the Prosecutor General's Office extradited a citizen of Kazakhstan from Russia to face criminal charges for committing violent sexual acts against a minor.
