In Uralsk, the chairman of the city court, Ruslan Zhumagulov, was detained while receiving a bribe.
"Suspicions of corruption arose a long time ago - the operational investigation lasted for three months", reports Zakon.kz citing its source.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel "Kozachkov offside" writes that the detention took place in Zhumagulov's office. Two lawyers, presumably the bribe givers, were also present there.
It is reported that the bribe, amounting to 1.5 million tenge, was intended for a favourable decision to replace a convicted person's criminal sentence with a fine.
"The punishment for this crime is a fine of 30 to 50 times the amount of the bribe. If found guilty, he could stay at home for 45 to 75 million tenge. But there is also imprisonment of up to 6 years with confiscation of property. For some reason, I think he won't go to prison", the message states.
Recall that in October in Almaty, a judge of the inter-district administrative offences court, Dastan Slyamkulov, was detained. He is suspected of repeatedly receiving bribes. In addition, five employees of the Almaty police department are being investigated as suspected accomplices, three of whom are officers from the Zhetysu district.
Shortly before this, information appeared online about the detention of a former judge of the Medeu District Court of Almaty, Svetlana Zholmanova. She is suspected of committing fraud against several victims.
Incidentally, it became known back in April 2021 that Zholmanova was suspected of fraud. During a search of her office at that time, $10,000 was seized from her.
Later, by order of the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Svetlana Zholmanova's powers were suspended. In 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed her.
