The Prosecutor General's Office has strengthened oversight of the search for individuals who have evaded justice. This year, thanks to the monitoring of CCTV cameras, prosecutors identified and detained 53 fugitives.
This was announced on his social media page on X by the Prosecutor General, Berik Asylov.
"Since August, we have linked our own IT development with AI elements for the automatic recognition of fugitive criminals, debtors, and missing persons to the CCTV cameras in Almaty and Atyrau. In two days, we have already identified 2 individuals who evaded investigation and 2 missing persons," Asylov stated.
It is reported that with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) via the cameras, individuals can be found even despite changes in age and appearance.
Berik Asylov instructed prosecutors to implement the system in all regions.
It has been reported that currently, over 9,000 individuals are wanted in the country, including 2,200 criminals and 2,000 missing persons.
