The Union of European Football Associations has expressed displeasure over the fact that the President of the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF) Adilet Barmenkulov disclosed some confidential information that was discussed at a UEFA meeting.
The other day Barmenkulov stated that, allegedly, the majority of representatives of UEFA member countries support the easing of sanctions against Russia and do not object to the return of Russian youth teams to international tournaments.
Recall that since February 2022, FIFA and UEFA have suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in international football tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
Now the media is circulating reports that UEFA has reacted negatively to Barmenkulov's remarks. It is assumed that the head of the KFF disclosed confidential information pursuing personal interests.
"One of the group meetings was dedicated to the influence of politics on European football, with discussions of current geopolitical topics and open issues.
We can only state that we are disappointed to learn that someone has breached this trust by publishing content that was not only inappropriate but also inaccurate, in an attempt to score a few political points", reports TASS, citing a UEFA press service statement.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time UEFA has been disappointed with the President of the Kazakhstan Football Federation. Previously, Barmenkulov had already undermined the trust of the Union of European Football Associations' leadership.
Recall that in July, two top football clubs filed a complaint against him with the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body.
Furthermore, the Kazakhstan Football Federation was suspected of lobbying for the interests of one of the numerous bookmakers.
And some time later, it emerged that UEFA had launched an investigation into Barmenkulov, suspecting him of organising match fixing.
