The Anti-Corruption Service has launched a pre-trial investigation into the theft at the Almaty metro. According to the press service of the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office, metro employees purchased spare parts for electric trains at inflated prices.

"A recent analysis showed that employees of the Municipal State Enterprise 'Metropolitan' bought primary rubber springs for locomotives at an inflated price totalling 137 million tenge," the statement said.

This conclusion was also confirmed by the metro's audit report, prompting the transport prosecutor's office to register a pre-trial investigation, which is currently being carried out by the Anti-Corruption Service of Almaty.

"According to Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, other information is not subject to disclosure in the interests of the investigation," the prosecutor's office reported.

Recall that earlier it became known that former employees of the Almaty Sports Department and its subordinate organization are suspected of embezzling 56 million tenge.
