The Government of Kazakhstan has funded the development of scientific research on the Caspian Sea, allocating more than one billion tenge to the relevant institute. The funds have been directed towards expanding monitoring and strengthening the scientific base in the country's section of the water area.

WHY THE FUNDS WERE ALLOCATED

1.1 billion tenge has been allocated from the Government reserve to Kazakh Research Institute of the Caspian Sea. The resolution was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

The materials clarify that the funds are aimed at strengthening the institute's scientific potential.

WHAT THE MONEY WILL BE USED FOR

The allocated funds are intended for the purchase of equipment for marine monitoring, as well as for equipping hydrobiological and hydrochemical laboratories.

This will allow the institute to move towards comprehensive research directly in the sea's water area. Systematic observations of hydrometeorological and biological environmental parameters are planned, along with the expansion of the scientific base regarding processes in the Kazakhstani part of the Caspian Sea.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE INSTITUTE

According to the Government, to develop effective measures, the institute is integrating into the international scientific community. It has joined the Association of Universities and Research Centres of the Caspian countries.

The materials do not specify which specific joint projects are being implemented as part of this cooperation.

CONTROL OVER THE USE OF FUNDS

The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan will ensure control over the targeted use of budget funds.
