At one of the markets in Almaty, 13,680 chicken eggs were seized from illegal circulation. They were being sold without the necessary veterinary documents, labelling, or special packaging. Following the inspection, fines totalling 1,297,500 tenge were imposed on the violators.
WHAT WAS FOUND DURING THE INSPECTION
The Territorial Inspectorate of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture for the city of Almaty, together with the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection and the Union of Poultry Farmers of Kazakhstan, conducted a raid on trade facilities to ensure veterinary safety.
At the ‘Barys-IV’ market, specialists identified chicken eggs being sold without veterinary accompanying documents, proper labelling, and special packaging. A total of 13,680 eggs were seized from illegal circulation.
WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN
In accordance with the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the authorised bodies drew up the relevant protocols. Fines totalling 1,297,500 tenge were imposed on the guilty parties.
After the violations were identified, explanatory work was carried out with the heads of wholesale and retail organisations on compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements. Official letters were also sent regarding the prohibition of selling products illegally imported from other countries.
HOW THE SEIZED PRODUCTS WERE DISPOSED OF
In accordance with the Rules for the Destruction of Food Products that Pose a Threat to Human and Animal Health, as well as the Environment, approved by Government Resolution No. 140 of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 10 June 2026, the seized eggs were transported to the city animal burial ground.
The products were placed in a ‘Becker pit’, where they were preserved using the biothermal method.
CONTEXT
Previously, a similar case was recorded in Shymkent, where 11,850 chicken eggs of Russian origin were seized from illegal circulation. The products were found without labelling and accompanying documents, and laboratory tests showed they did not meet safety requirements. The entire batch was subsequently destroyed.
