In the Ulytau region, the Kylsh reservoir, with a design capacity of 11.5 million cubic metres, has been returned to state ownership. Following the transfer, authorities allocated funds to prepare for its reconstruction.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE RETURN OF THE FACILITY

According to the Ulytau regional prosecutor's office, the hydraulic engineering structure of the Kylsh reservoir, previously transferred into private ownership, has been returned to state ownership. Its design capacity is 11.5 million cubic metres.

"Returning hydraulic engineering structures to the state helps improve public safety, ensure effective water resource management, and uphold the rule of law," the prosecutor's office noted.

WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN FOLLOWING THE RETURN

After the reservoir was transferred to state ownership, the akimat of the city of Karazhal allocated 16.4 million tenge. The funds are intended for the development of design documentation for the reconstruction of the hydraulic engineering facility.

This concerns the preparatory phase of modernisation, which is necessary for the subsequent renewal of infrastructure and ensuring the safe operation of the structure.

WHAT THE MODERNISATION INVOLVES

The reconstruction includes a range of technical works. It is planned to build two pumping stations, replace the locks, and install high-voltage power lines.
