In connection with the explosion case at the «Plov Centre» café in Shchuchinsk, two more suspects have been detained — the director of an automobile gas filling station and a delivery person of gas cylinders.
WHO HAS BEEN DETAINED
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the director of an automobile gas filling station and a person involved in the delivery of gas cylinders have been additionally detained.
The department reported that they are suspected of violating legal requirements when providing services for filling and delivering cylinders.
UNDER WHICH ARTICLE IS THE CASE BEING INVESTIGATED
The actions of the suspects are classified under Part 3 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for the life or health of consumers, resulting, through negligence, in harm to the health of more than two people and the death of a person").
This article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to 8 years.
WHAT PREVENTIVE MEASURES HAS THE COURT SELECTED
By court order, a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody has been selected for one of the suspects.
For the second individual, house arrest has been imposed.
CONTEXT
To remind you, on the night of 26 to 27 February, an explosion of a gas-air mixture occurred in Shchuchinsk at a single-storey café attached to a five-storey residential building.
Immediately after the incident, seven people died — some at the scene, some within the first hours after the explosion. Later, the death toll rose: several injured individuals died in hospitals in the following days and weeks.
According to the latest reports, the total number of fatalities has reached at least 12 people, with later reports indicating an increase to 13.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident. Additionally, on 2 March, the owner of the café was detained.
