On a section of the Astrakhan Highway in Atyrau, paving stones have been laid on the central reservation for several kilometres. Footage from the site has sparked discussion on social media. Users are questioning why such a solution has been applied to the road in the absence of any greenery.
WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS
In the footage published on the social network Instagram, neatly laid paving stones are visible right in the middle of the road. The video's authors ironically ask who will be walking in this area, and express surprise at the choice of this type of landscaping.
According to them, the section remains without any greenery: no trees or shrubs are visible on site.
WHAT USERS ARE SAYING
Some commentators claim that trees may have previously grown on this section, which were then removed. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.
WHAT THE AKIMAT SAID
The Atyrau City Akimat reported that reconstruction work is currently underway on the Atyrau–Astrakhan highway section. All construction and installation work is being carried out in accordance with the approved design and estimate documentation.
"The project provides for the renewal of the road surface, modernisation of engineering infrastructure, and landscaping work. In particular, the planting of greenery along the road and the installation of an automated irrigation system for its maintenance are planned," the akimat noted.
At the same time, the purpose of the area with the bright paving stones on the central reservation was not separately explained.
