Petropavlovsk has been allocated 42 million tenge to restore the dam destroyed by floods.

According to Informburo.kz, this was announced at a session of the city maslikhat by the akim of Petropavlovsk, Serik Mukhamediyev.

"We have four breaches in the dam on Ushcheva Street. Today, the region is allocating 42 million tenge from the reserve to restore them. We have sourced a quarry for extracting white clay. It will be developed by the companies that will carry out the work. There is a plan for how to seal the breaches. This year, we will simply bring the dam into working order; we will not do anything else. At the same time, we are designing the Ushcheva dam according to new parameters," the statement reads.

The city akim stated that if everything goes well, next year he will "request money from the government reserve" for the construction of a new dam.

He also noted that the dam in Zarechny also has defects, and the barrier will be repaired. At Kozhzavod, according to him, the dam was not damaged, but they intend to increase its height.

In addition, it became known that the government has allocated 2.9 billion tenge for the construction of a road overpass in Petropavlovsk.

"In order to implement the instructions of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, given during his working trip to the North Kazakhstan Region, a government resolution has been adopted to allocate 2.9 billion tenge to complete the construction of an emergency overpass in the city of Petropavlovsk," the government press service reported.

The railway line divides the city into two parts, and around 16,000 cars pass daily over the road overpass on Karavannaya Street.

"Carrying out repair work on this overpass without restricting traffic is impossible due to its small dimensions and the high intensity of the traffic flow, which could create inconvenience for the city's residents," the government reported.

In this regard, the authorised bodies have decided to build a new overpass on Universalnaya Street, which will be constructed parallel to the existing one. The total cost of the project is 5.9 billion tenge.
