In Shymkent, water supply and sewerage facilities have been returned to the state. Since 2004, they had been managed by LLP «Water Resources – Marketing», in which the state share was only 22%

According to the press service of the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM), an analysis of the enterprise's activities revealed losses alongside suspicious financial transactions involving affiliated structures.

“The identified violations of legislation, including non-compliance with the Water Code and procedural deviations during privatisation, as well as instances of ineffective management, became the grounds for transferring materials to the akimat with the aim of returning the water supply and sewerage facilities to state ownership,” the statement said.

As a result, the specialised inter-district economic court of Shymkent ruled to declare the privatisation of the water supply and sewerage facilities invalid and return them to the state.

According to preliminary data from the city akimat, the water tariff is expected to decrease by at least 30%

Meanwhile, in Karaganda, state property was returned to municipal ownership following a lawsuit by the prosecutor's office. The press service of the city prosecutor's office reported that the court of the Karaganda region declared the purchase and sale transactions of real estate and a land plot invalid.

The reason for filing the lawsuit was violations during the privatisation of a two-storey annex to Secondary School No. 16 with an area of 1,165.79 square metres and the transfer of a land plot of over 1 hectare.

Prosecutors found that the facility, which was on the school's balance sheet, was not subject to privatisation because the educational institution continues to operate.

As a result, the court overturned the corresponding resolution of the Karaganda akimat. The property was returned to state municipal ownership.
