In ten settlements of the Markakol District in the East Kazakhstan Region, where approximately 1,200 people live, interruptions or a complete lack of mobile communication are being recorded.

According to MIA «Kazinform», complaints are coming from the villages of Zhangaul, Pravy Ust-Kalzhyr, Urunkuayka, Kainarly, Bulgartabaty, Akzhailau, Terskey-Bokenbai, Balyktybulak, Shaganatty and Kungey-Bokenbai. The East Kazakhstan Region Akimat reported that they plan to resolve the issue gradually, together with mobile operators, by the end of 2027.

Local residents note that the lack of internet complicates everyday life.

“In Shaganatty, the internet only works in certain places. It’s hard for children to study remotely, and we can’t always get in touch with doctors or relatives,” the villagers said.

It has become known that currently, internet access in the district is provided for 82.4% of the population. In March 2025, operator «Kar-Tel» (trading under the Beeline brand) connected the villages of Shengeldy and Igilik to mobile internet.

Alternative technologies are used for educational institutions: Starlink satellite communication kits have been installed in 12 district schools, providing high-speed internet access.

A separate issue remains the lack of mobile communication on the roads. According to local authorities, design and estimate documentation is being developed for the construction of antenna-mast structures along the national highway.
