In Shymkent, two college students from Parasat have accused the deputy director for pastoral care, PE teachers, and senior students of assault. One of the victims is in hospital with concussion.

According to KTK, the conflict began over an offensive comment on TikTok to a video posted by the college's head of studies Kazybek Yerzhanov

"The teacher did not like the remark, and he allegedly called the students in for a talk. He took them to the college's basement and started beating them. And not alone. Several PE teachers and senior students were also in the basement", the report states.

According to the victims, they were held and beaten in the basement for around three hours. One of them has severe swelling and bruises on his face.

"They hit me in the face, you can see it all on my face. They hit my body, there are bruises and scrapes there too. They kicked my head. <...> insulted me, threatened that if we filed a complaint, they would find us anyway and take their own justice", said Abdugafar Yersaliyev.

As soon as the parents learned of the incident, they went straight to the college. In the basement, they found washed-away bloodstains on the floor and showed the children's soiled clothing. They also noticed marks from blows on the deputy head's hands.

For his part, Yerzhanov denies guilt. He claimed that the students were beaten by senior pupils.

"No, I did not hit them. There is no evidence. I injured my hands while working in my own yard. I asked the senior students: 'Did you beat Kostya and Gafur?' They said they did. There was blood here. We cleaned it all up so the other teachers wouldn't see", the report states.

The parents did not believe him and said they had already filed a complaint with the police.

"I want him locked up! When I think that for three and a half hours they were punching my child's kidneys, his liver. Smashing his face. You will pay for everything!" said the mother of one of the victims.

Meanwhile, the parents stated that their children would no longer study at this college, because the institution is unable to ensure safety.

It may be recalled that in August, a video appeared online showing a man at the Kostanay Children's Centre for the Provision of Special Social Services using kicks and a stick to force a child on a treadmill. The Department for the Coordination of Employment and Social Services said that appropriate measures had been taken and those responsible punished.

In October, it emerged that in Pavlodar, a carer at the Regional Children's Psychoneurological Centre for the Provision of Special Social Services had been beating children with disabilities. The instances of abuse came to light thanks to CCTV recordings.
