A sentence has been handed down in the court of Konayev, Almaty Region, in a case of large-scale smuggling of fish products.
According to the press service of the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office, the head of the company from October 2021 to September 2022 purchased fish from a poacher, which he then exported to European Union countries.
"To obtain the necessary export permits, forged documents were used regarding the origin of the fish from a farm that did not have the capability for artificial breeding of pike perch", the statement said.
The total value of the illegally exported fish amounted to more than 210 million tenge.
Ultimately, the court found the company director guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 1,000 MCI (3.69 million tenge). He was also obliged to pay the customs value of the sold products, amounting to 210 million tenge, into the state treasury.
