In the West Kazakhstan Region, a highway was closed due to rapid snowmelt. Meltwater is overflowing onto the road surface.

"For this reason, traffic restrictions had to be introduced for all types of vehicles on the Uralsk-Beles-Permetnoye highway. Traffic is being diverted via the Uralsk-Saratov highway," reports the publication "My City" citing the West Kazakhstan Region Police Department.

Drivers are asked to take this into account when planning their routes and to observe safety precautions.

"These forced measures have been taken for the safety of citizens," the police reported.

It will be recalled that last year Kazakhstan, including the West Kazakhstan Region, faced floods that became the largest in the last 80 years.

In the region, 84 populated areas were affected, particularly the dacha areas near Uralsk, where over 11,000 plots were flooded. At that time, local authorities declared a local state of emergency and evacuated approximately 13,700 people.
