Residents of a dilapidated five-storey building in the East Kazakhstan Region fear for their lives.

Half of the emergency house in the village of Belousovka was evacuated long ago, but the other half is still home to 35 families who fear they could end up under the rubble at any moment.

According to Channel One Eurasia, the building has been in this condition for over 9 years. The latest inspection found that two stairwells are no longer fit for habitation, so their residents were relocated.

According to the villagers, the house is so dilapidated that the foundation is crumbling, and an adult's hand can fit into the cracks in the walls.

Local authorities, in turn, asked people not to panic and to wait for the results of the upcoming inspection.

"We will carry out a technical survey of the building once it is ready for the expert committee's conclusion. A decision will be made. The house will be declared either unsafe or fit for further use," said the village mayor.

According to him, if the house is declared unsafe, people will be relocated to another village because there is no available space here.

However, residents fear they will be given rental housing without the right to privatise it. In that case, they would also lose their own property.

For context, in Aktobe, two 24-apartment residential buildings, which were commissioned in October 2019, were declared unsafe. Experts concluded that the buildings are not fit for use and are recommended for demolition, and that the technical specifications of the concrete blocks do not meet GOST requirements.

In January, in the village of Kazygurt in the Turkestan region, a two-storey house literally began to fall apart before people's eyes. Cracks appeared in the walls, and the floor began to cave in underfoot. Meanwhile, officials blamed the residents themselves for the destruction of the house.
