In Atyrau, a court has ordered the demolition of the «NB Towers» residential complex after the state architectural and construction control authority (GASK) reviewed the legality of the construction project.
According to the publication «Aq Jayyq», the Atyrau city court declared the building unlawful. The regional court dismissed the developer's appeal, leaving it with the right to file a cassation appeal.
The developer of the residential complex is the company «NB Holding», which carries out construction in Almaty, Aktau, Atyrau and Aktobe.
City residents criticised the demolition decision on social media. Citizens consider the demolition of the nearly completed building unjustified and point to the responsibility of the local authorities who issued the construction permit. Particular concern surrounds the fate of the equity holders who invested funds to purchase apartments.
«GASK and the akimat themselves issued the permit and failed to ensure proper oversight of construction in the city centre, and now, instead of solving the problem, they are taking it to court. Who will compensate the citizens who sold their homes to buy apartments in this complex?» – one commentator noted.
