In the West Kazakhstan Region, the court ordered the police department to pay compensation for moral damages for the illegal registration of a car imported into the territory of Kazakhstan.
According to Tengrinews.kz, in 2020, two residents of the region entered into a sale and purchase agreement for a Toyota Camry. Later, the court declared the vehicle registration carried out by traffic police officers unlawful. The unfortunate buyer took the police officers to court.
"The plaintiff justified her claims on the grounds that, as a result of the unlawful registration of the car, her rights as a bona fide buyer were violated. However, the court did not establish the existence of material damage, as the state body represented by the police department had no financial interest in the transaction and derived no benefit from it", the statement reads.
Ultimately, the regional court partially satisfied the claims, awarding compensation in the amount of 100 thousand tenge.
"The violation of the plaintiff's non-property rights, caused by the illegal registration, was confirmed by the court decision. The court decision has not yet entered into legal force", the ruling states.
For context, in October, an inspector from the civil and service weapons control group of the police department of the Maktaaral district of the Turkestan region, Nursultan Aldabergenov, was convicted for repeatedly receiving bribes.
In early August, the former head and inspector of the Migration Service Department (UMS), as well as a former inspector of the Auezov district police department of the Abay region, were convicted for corruption.
