The prosecutor's office of the Akmola Region has protected the housing rights of orphaned children and children left without parental care.

According to the press service of the department, under current legislation, children in this category have a priority right to receive housing. However, local executive bodies were violating children's rights to obtain housing from the state housing fund.

It has come to light that 33 children were unlawfully removed from the register, eight were not placed on the waiting list in a timely manner, and one child was completely refused housing.

For example, in one district centre, the head of a state institution lived for 2 years in an apartment intended for an orphaned child.

Following a prosecutor's inspection, the apartment was returned and given to the child. Measures are currently being taken to restore the violated rights of other children.

Earlier, it was reported that the deputy akim of the Irtysh district in the Pavlodar Region, Roza Akanova, was given an apartment intended for an orphan. This decision was made unilaterally by the head of the real sector of the economy department of the district, Kairolla Yeleukenov.
