In Karaganda, a 13-year-old schoolboy Damir Bolumbayev died after an incorrect diagnosis. The relatives of the deceased accuse medical workers of negligence.
According to «ZTB NEWS», the boy initially developed a fever. He was prescribed classic treatment for ARVI — gargling and cold medicine. Then the patient's condition worsened and he was taken to hospital, where doctors recommended continuing treatment at home.
Later, Damir complained of pain in his calves and severe malaise, and during the night his condition deteriorated sharply. The paramedics who responded to the call initially refused to hospitalise the child, but eventually took him to intensive care, where the boy died.
The health department reported that an investigation into the matter had been launched.
«Based on the results of a preliminary internal review, facts of violations on the part of certain medical workers have been identified. All those responsible will be held accountable. We offer our condolences to the relatives of the deceased patient», the department stated.
Damir's sister - Aliya Bolumbayeva stated that her younger brother was a healthy and active child who loved sports and ate properly.
«The blame lies entirely with the paramedic, who did not send him for an X-ray, but only kept repeating about her 23 years of work experience. A child died due to the negligence of doctors», she stated.
Recall that in July 2023, a resident of Balkhash, Meruert Aulbayeva, contacted a clinic with health complaints. Despite ultrasound results requiring urgent surgical intervention, the operation to remove her appendix was only performed a week later. The patient developed sepsis, from which she died on 6 November 2023.
A pre-trial investigation into the case of medical negligence lasted almost a year, after which the main suspect was charged. However, the defence is seeking a review of the case.
Recently, the Karaganda Regional Court considered a complaint in the case of Meruert Aulbayeva, which concerned the refusal to suspend the suspected doctor from duty. It transpired that the doctor himself had submitted a request for a transfer to diagnostic work, citing a deterioration in his own health.
Meanwhile, according to the deceased's brother, Aitbek Aulbayev, an unidentified person unconnected to the proceedings is publicly disseminating information from the pre-trial investigation materials. It is reported that this person is spreading false information, claiming that the operation was performed flawlessly, and that the cause of the sepsis was the patient's negligent attitude towards her own health.
