A resident of Atyrau, Gulziya Bekbolat, is accusing staff at a private nursery of causing the death of her seven-month-old son. The child died in October last year, yet the investigation into the tragedy has still not reached court.
According to Informburo.kz, the woman claims her son died in his cot. She says the boy was completely healthy, and the cause of death could have been a lack of oxygen.
She noted that the nursery staff may have been negligent, even going so far as to use physical force.
‘According to the resuscitator, the child died immediately after being taken out of the cot. He may have suffocated. The examination showed bronchitis and pneumonia. But I disagree with that. Everyone must be punished. I want the case to go to court, but it has been closed,’ the woman said.
For their part, representatives of the nursery admitted that the institution was operating illegally, taking in children at a private house. However, they denied the accusations of causing harm to the child, stating that the baby arrived with them already in ill health. They added that when they noticed the deterioration, they called an ambulance and provided first aid.
The Department for Quality Assurance in Education of the Atyrau Region stated that they were unaware of the existence of this nursery.
‘We have received no statements or complaints regarding this case. If it turns out that the case falls within our remit, we will conduct an unscheduled inspection and take appropriate measures,’ said the head of the department, Berdibek Taishev.
The police reported that the criminal case was closed due to the absence of a crime.
Earlier, it was reported that in the village of Zhumysshy, Kazygurt district of the Turkestan region, a 12-year-old schoolboy, Ulagat Saidulla, died during a lesson. The children were left unsupervised — there was no teacher in the classroom. According to the mother of the deceased, the boy was strangled by a classmate. The tragedy occurred in February, but those responsible have yet to be punished.
