A large strawberry producer defended its right to land in the Zhambyl region

In the Merken district of the Zhambyl region, the appellate panel for administrative cases reviewed the case of a strawberry producer who nearly lost his business.

According to the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», it all began in 2022 when the founders of Zhemis-Zhidek LLP, which had leased land from the state back in 2007, changed.

The new owners expanded the cultivated areas and created hundreds of jobs for the local population. However, later Merken Experimental Farm LLP claimed that the land leased by Zhemis-Zhidek belonged to them.

Initially, Merken Experimental Farm LLP filed a lawsuit against the district akimat for allocating the land plot in 2007 in violation of regulations.

Court proceedings ensued. At the same time, the former prosecutor of the Merken district, Yeldos Amirkhan, filed a lawsuit against the akimat and Zhemis-Zhidek LLP. The reason was that a prosecutor's inspection allegedly also revealed violations in the land transfer procedure.

After a series of court hearings, the appellate panel for administrative cases of the Zhambyl Regional Court ruled that there were no grounds to overturn the akimat's decision on granting the plot to Zhemis-Zhidek.

The strawberry producer's issue was even discussed in parliament.

"The Ak Zhol party made an inquiry asking why bona fide agricultural producers are being persecuted just as their businesses take off? And why were officials and prosecutors so fiercely fighting over these particular fields, when there are so many others in the district?" - the statement reads.
